Crutches Canes and Stem Cell Research

Posted on July 26, 2007

I’ve been on crutches since I was six years old due to nerve damage in my spinal column. Fortunately, I’m very mobile and get along very well with my crutches. However, for myself and others-stem cell research holds a certain degree of fascination. Occasionally I’ll keep you update on what is happening in the world of stem cell research.

Forbes today reported that New Jersey Governor, Jon Corzine signed a bill today that will allow New Jersey voters to vote on whether to approve borrowing $450 million to pay for stem cell research in the state for 10 years.  I like the fact that voters get to choose and the issue stays out of the hands of the Washington folks! Corzine says that

“Given the lack of leadership from the Bush administration, it is up to the states to do what is necessary to cultivate this cutting-edge research,” “I am proud that New Jersey is leading the pack.”

Regardless of your political and religious views-I’ve found that folks that use crutches, canes or wheelchairs keep an eye on this issue. The debate goes on!
